My passion for my work

In my junior year of high school, I did something that would change my life: I took a robotics class. For the first time in school, I was genuinely struggling, and this struggle sparked something in me that caused me to work harder and more effectively than I ever had before. I would spend hours during and after school working on my team's robot, and when the janitors kicked me out, I would bring the robot home and continue there. I'm the type of person who is determined to push until I succeed. So every failure and setback would only drive me forward until I wasn't looking at a broken robot, I was looking at a completed project. At Tufts, I have continued this passion, starting with personal projects at first, and now doing research in the Nemitz robotics group, and my obsession hasn't wavered.

After I graduate from Tufts, I plan on continuing my work in robotics, but more specifically, space robotics, combining two of my favorite things. Outer space is a place where you have to expect the unexpected, and that challenge is exactly why I want to deploy robots beyond our planet. Moreover, interplanetary exploration amazes me, so putting machines that I helped build into the universe would be a dream come true.
